Set a few hundred metres apart on Ring Road, the Nizamuddin and Sarai Kale Khan half-flyovers were meant to smooth traffic while providing easy access to east Delhi and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. However, design constraints have rendered them ineffective
Every day, 12 lakh vehicles pass on the part of Ring Road touching NH24 and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. Two half-flyovers were built on this stretch–one at the end of Nizamuddin Bridge, in the direction of Ashram, and the other in the opposite direction at Sara Kale Khan–to ease the congestion and divert vehicles turning towards east Delhi. However, due to design constraints and heavy traffic, they prove completely ineffective in rush hour.
