Delhi may get a govt via secret ballot

With no breakthrough over government formation in Delhi, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung is mulling over an option to take the secret ballot route to help solve the crisis, according to sources.

Sources said that Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung in all likelihood will call a meeting of the Delhi Assembly after submitting a report to the Home Ministry, paving way for government formation via secret ballot in the state. Delhi has been without a government after AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal quit in mid-February this year.

The secret ballot will be held based on Article 175 and Article 86 of the Constitution, along with the Section 9 of the NCT Act of Delhi.
