Noida, Gr Noida and Yamuna authorities to present budgets



The Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Authorities are all set to tabulate their annual budgets on Wednesday. The Noida Authority, which will hold its 181st board meeting, is expected to allocate nearly Rs 10,000 crore for expediting several important infrastructure projects in the year 2014-15.

According to a source, the Noida Authority will earmark a total budget of Rs 9,200 crore whereas Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) are expected to allocate Rs 7,100 crore and Rs 3,500 crore respectively for various development projects.

The Noida Authority primarily wants to develop the city as a major infrastructural hub and is mulling over spending 50 per cent of the total budget on various projects. Reportedly the authority has allocated Rs 5,000 crore for new development projects such as construction of roads and flyovers to resolve traffic bottlenecks in the city, Rs 1,200 crore would be spent on the maintenance of the undergoing and pending projects. The source informed that the development of villages in Noida is one of the prime concerns of the authority and it is planning to spend Rs 250 crore for this purpose.

For other basic services such as healthcare, transport and power, Rs 1,000 will be allotted. For the much-awaited Metro project, it is expected that both Greater Noida and Noida Authorities will allocate Rs 1,700 collectively.

The Greater Noida Authority will allocate Rs 7,100 crore for its developmental projects including Night Safari, a green buffer in the flood plain areas of the township and a mega convention facility, similar to Delhi’s India Habitat Centre. It also has a proposed medical university on the cards.

Similarly, YEIDA is expected to raise its budget this year that would be used for major infrastructure development projects.
